(Photo gallery with six interesting photos goes here…)

We are a mom and four kids, living on an off-grid homestead way out in the woods in Southern Oregon. We carry our wood and our water, we tend our gardens, we work on trails and roads and structures. Along the way the kids learn a little bit of homeschooling and a whole lot of life skills, while growing into their unique selves. Compared to most of the modern world, many of our ways are slow, difficult, labor-intensive, and repetitive. And they are also quieter, gentler, and more condusive to thoughtful conversation. Sometimes we get frustrated, but I continue to choose this path for us: we get to spend our days largely outside, largely working on actual physical projects, largely working together, and I believe the kids and I are wonderfully grounded and rooted because of it.

If you’ve ever wondered if it’s possible to leave the city and raise your kids on a remote homestead, the answer is a resounding YES!
